CG2672: Athens Ancient Greece Silver Tetradrachm

Athens, Attica, Ancient Greece, c. 454-404 BC. Silver Tetradrachm. The front depicts the helmeted head of Athena right, with frontal eye / The back shows an Owl standing right, head facing, closed tail feathers; olive sprig and crescent to left; ΑΘΕ, all all within incuse square.

Measures 24mm, 17.20 grams. Literary/scholastic references: Kroll 8; HGC 4, 1597 for type. Toned, small ding on Athena's cheek, ancient banker's test cut and light scratches on the reverse. Good VF. Ex Classical Numismatic Group (CNG).
