One shipwreck treasure coin recovered from the wreck of the HMS Admiral Gardner, sunk in early 1809.

A nice copper "X Cash" coin minted by the East India Company in 1808. The Admiral Gardner had just left port from England bound for India, filled with supplies for the East India Company's overseas operations when she went down in a storm in theEnglish Channel in 1809. This coin was discovered, along with the ship, nearly 200 years later.

The front depicts the Coat of Arms awarded to the East India Company by the English Crown in 1698, 'EAST INDIA COMPANY 1808' around / The back shows the Persian inscription of value in the diplomatic language of Mughal, India - 'X or 10 Cash' - an equivalent of 3/4 farthing in 1808.

Diameter 26mm, and comes with signed certificate of authenticity with information about the wreck. Exact examples vary but are similar in size and condition... each coin you will receive will be different and not necessarily the same as pictured. Some have bright, shiny, cleaned surfaces while others are darker toned, some with areas of marine deposits. ex-Florida collection.
